Top Mediasite Webinars on Lecture Capture from 2011

Yeah, yeah, I know everyone hates lectures, right? Well, not me so much. I mean, what's TEDTalks? That's lecture, and they always inspire me. My husband loved most all of his UCF online lectures. When you've got a brilliant talking head, why not let them share?

I received this email from Mediasite, which is a lecture capture company, and if we ever consider using this type technology (I can hear you saying, "When ---- freezes over"), we could maybe review some of them:

Each month we (Mediasite) host webinars on Lecture Capture Best Practices – we’ve done over 150 so far with 100,000 views to date.

In case you missed out, here’s our countdown of the Most Popular Lecture Capture Webinars of 2011.

Bb Instructor PDP - Question Analytics

This was my third PDP session thus far for 2011-2012, and I thought I would post about it since I think this topic might make a good special project for our department when we are ready to tackle more advanced things. Idea: Conduct a special research project with our UG monitors that has them review the exam items for validity using Bb QA.

The PDP today was about a new question analytics tools that Bb is designing. Question Analytics (QA) tool is tentatively slated for SP10 delivery. Here are some screenshots from the PDP. Click on the images to view a larger version:

Hyphenation - "Double-Spaced"

One of my more challenging grammatical puzzles - hyphenation. Today, I researched "double-spaced", and found this, from http://www.proofreadnow.com/blog/bid/29485/Grammar-Usage-Compound-Verbs

If the infinitive form of a compound verb has a hyphen, retain the hyphen in other forms of the verb.
  • Would you like to air-condition your entire home?
  • The theater was not air-conditioned.
  • We need an air-conditioning expert.
  • You need to double-space all these reports.
  • That material should not be double-spaced.
  • BUT: Leave a double space between paragraphs. (No hyphen in double space as a compound noun.)
The gerund derived from a hyphenated compound verb requires no hyphen unless it is followed by an object.
  • Dry cleaning is the way to clean this blanket.
  • BUT: Dry-cleaning this sweater will not remove the spot.
  • Double spacing would make this table easy to read.
  • BUT: Double-spacing this table would make it easy to read.
  • Spot checking is all we can do.
  • BUT: In spot-checking the data, I found some embarrassing errors.

From Jan: You might find this free ebook interesting. It's on instructional design project management. Besides the relevant topic, the layout, strategies, and videos are pretty good.
