Snyder's Instructional Design Theory to Guide the Creation of Online Learning Communities for Adults

I have been reviewing some recent literature for a paper I am writing, and I thought this article was particularly interesting:

Snyder, M. M. (2009). Instructional-design theory to guide the creation of online learning communities for adults. TechTrends, 53(1), 48-56.

It's available on ProQuest Central through the Hunt Library databases.

It focuses on the instructional strategies, rather than on the design process, which is unusual and needed.

Here's the theory model (click on each one for a larger view):

From Jan: You might find this free ebook interesting. It's on instructional design project management. Besides the relevant topic, the layout, strategies, and videos are pretty good.

by Lou Prosperi, Documentation and Curriculum, Manager, Oracle
Presented at SALT 2010

Abstract:
This presentation examines several principles, practices, and techniques
employed by Walt Disney Imagineering in the design and construction of
Disney Theme parks, and explores how those same principles, practices,
and techniques can be applied to the instructional design process. The
presentation also includes a high-level overview of the Imagineering
process and the parallels between that process and the traditional ADDIE
